The dish's name is derived from the Ottoman Turkish idiomatic expression "keşkül-i
fukara" meaning "beggar's bowl"

Ingredients for Homemade Original Kaskul Recipe
5 cups milk plus 1 cup milk (for opening starch)
2 tablespoons starch
1 tablespoon rice flour
a glass of granulated sugar
1 cup almonds (powder is extracted)
1 egg yolk
1 packet of vanilla
optional almonds and pistachios
To start the recipe, without adding starch or rice flour, boil the milk, almond powder and egg yolk for about 10 minutes, stirring constantly. In this way, the essence of the almond is integrated into the milk and your dessert will be more delicious. Keşkül is a wonderful dessert that leaves a wonderful taste on the palate, especially with the smell of almonds.
