Trileçe is a delicious milk-based dessert unique to the Balkans. Its name literally means "three milks," referring to its three main dairy components. If you've been struggling to find a clear recipe, our homemade trileçe recipe video is here for you.

Trileçe Ingredients:
* 7 eggs
* 5 tablespoons flour
* ¾ cup granulated sugar
* 1 packet baking powder
* 1 packet vanilla extract

For the Syrup:
* 5 cups milk
* 300 grams cream
* 4 tablespoons sugar

For the Caramel Sauce:
* 1 packet cream
* 1 tablespoon butter
* 1 cup granulated sugar

How to Make Trileçe:
- Separate the egg yolks from the whites. Add a pinch of salt to the egg whites and beat until stiff peaks form, about 5 minutes.

- Mix the sugar into the egg yolks and beat well.

- Gently fold the stiff egg whites into the yolk mixture without deflating the foam.

- Sift in 5 tablespoons of flour, vanilla, and baking powder. Mix until well combined.

- Pour the trileçe batter into a greased large baking dish. Bake in a preheated oven at 175 degrees Celsius for about 40 minutes.

- While the cake is baking, combine milk, cream, and sugar in a saucepan.

- Cook the milky sauce until the sugar is dissolved. It doesn't need to boil, just heat until the sugar is melted.

- Whip 2 packs of whipped cream with 2 tea glasses of milk. Set aside.

- Melt 1 cup of sugar over low heat until it turns amber. Add butter and sauté for 2 minutes.

- Once the mixture thickens, add 200 ml (1 cup) of cream and continue cooking until it reaches a caramel-like consistency.

- Remove the trileçe from the heat and let the caramel sauce cool.

- Once the cake has cooled a bit, poke holes in it and allow it to cool completely.

- Pour the lukewarm milky sauce over the cooled cake.

- Spread the whipped cream over the top and refrigerate for 1 hour.

- After refrigeration, pour the caramel sauce and refrigerate again. Trileçe tastes even better if left overnight.

- Optionally, create the famous trileçe pattern with cream or whipped cream once the caramel sets.

- Your perfect trileçe dessert is ready to be sliced and served. Enjoy!

Note: The original trileçe recipe uses a combination of buffalo milk, goat milk, and cow milk in equal proportions. In this recipe, we've used only cow milk to make a trileçe that closely resembles the original. If you try our trileçe recipe, please let us know in the comments how it turned out. Watch the
