Authentic Turkish Tekirdağ Meatball Recipe

I'm sharing one of the best meatball recipes from Turkey, the Tekirdağ köfte recipe, with you.

**Ingredients:**
- 750 grams of lean beef mince
- 1 medium-sized onion
- Half a cup of sourdough bread crumbs
- One teaspoon of semolina
- Two teaspoons of cumin
- One teaspoon of salt
- One teaspoon of baking powder
- Half a teaspoon of black pepper

The Tekirdağ meatball recipe is quite simple, differing mainly in its shape from other meatball recipes. Let's get started. First, add the spices and baking soda to the 750 grams of beef mince and knead well, then let it rest overnight.

The next morning, add sourdough bread crumbs, onion, and semolina, and knead again. Refrigerate for at least 8 hours.

After thoroughly kneading the Tekirdağ meatball mixture, let it sit in the fridge for another night.

On the following day, spread out the Tekirdağ mixture flat, then roll it into a long, thin shape. Cut it into two or three equal parts, and roll them into finger-sized Tekirdağ meatballs.

In a dry cast-iron skillet, fry the long Tekirdağ rolls over low heat until they're golden brown on all sides and cooked through.

Your homemade Tekirdağ meatballs are ready. You can serve them with caramelized onion rings or a delicious bulgur pilaf. If you'd like to learn how to make a tasty bulgur pilaf, we recommend reading our bulgur pilaf recipe on the website.

As you can see, making homemade Tekirdağ meatball is quite a simple recipe. The inclusion of semolina adds a delicious flavor to the köfte. The baking powder also ensures that the meatball puffs up nicely and gets a crispy golden exterior.

If you prefer not to use breadcrumbs, you can use a slice of stale bread soaked in water and add it to the Tekirdağ meatball mixture.

Making Tekirdağ meatball from scratch will result in a delicious and healthier alternative to store-bought frozen ones.

For a flavorful Tekirdağ meatball, it's important to fry them in hot oil. Additionally, using breadcrumbs in the recipe will ensure your meatball gets a crispy, golden texture.
