"Etli Patates Yemeği" (Potato Stew with Sautéed Meat) is almost a staple for every Turkish household. In this video, we demonstrate how to prepare this stew recipe with sautéed meat for a more convenient and easy cooking process. By using leftover meat from Eid al-Adha and turning it into sautéed meat, you can easily create a delicious dinner.
Compared to the regular meat and potato stew, the addition of sautéed meat in this recipe enhances the flavor due to the incorporation of its natural oils.
Ingredients for Sautéed Potato Stew:
- 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- 1 medium-sized onion
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 1 green pepper and 1 red pepper
- 4 medium-sized potatoes (approximately 1 kg)
- 1 tablespoon of tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon of tomato sauce
- Salt and spices
- Approximately 100 grams of sautéed meat
- Enough hot water to cover the mixture
Instructions for Sautéed Potato Stew:
- Sauté finely grated onions and garlic in 3 tablespoons of oil until golden brown.
- Add chopped green and red peppers, and continue to sauté.
- Add diced potatoes and continue to sauté.
- Stir in 1 tablespoon of tomato paste, 1 tablespoon of tomato sauce, salt, and spices.
- Add approximately 100 grams of sautéed meat and mix well.
- Lastly, when all the ingredients are well sautéed, add enough hot water to cover the mixture. Close the lid and let it cook over medium heat in a covered pot.
- After about 45 minutes of cooking, or when the potatoes have softened, it is ready to be served hot. Enjoy!
You can serve the sautéed potato stew with a delicious bulgur pilaf. It also makes a great presentation with yogurt.
