Delicious Blue Poppy Seed Semolina Dessert Recipe

"Revani" is a traditional syrupy dessert with roots in Ottoman cuisine. It was named "Revan" in honor of the conquests of Ervin and Armenia during the Ottoman period. One of the most delicious variations of Revani is the "blue poppy seed revani". In some regions, it is referred to as "yoÄŸurt" or "sponge dessert" instead of Revani.

If you're looking for a precise Revani recipe, you're in the right place. Wondering how to make blue poppy seed dessert? We've prepared a poppy seed semolina dessert recipe for you. This delightful dessert, with its syrup and cake, is topped with plain whipped cream and poppy seeds, creating a taste that you won't forget.

Ingredients for Poppy Seed Semolina Dessert:

- 1 cup vegetable oil (200 ml)
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup semolina
- 1 cup flour
- 1 packet baking powder
- 1 packet vanilla
- Half a cup of blue poppy seeds
- 1 tea cup of sugar
- 3 eggs

For Revani Syrup:

- 3 cups of water
- 2 cups of sugar

For Topping:

- 1 box of whipped cream
- 1 cup of milk (for whipping)

Instructions for Blue Poppy Seed Semolina Dessert:

1. Start by preparing the syrup for Revani. Cook 2 cups of sugar with 3 cups of water over medium heat for about 20 minutes. When the syrup starts to boil, squeeze about 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Once the syrup thickens and starts to drip slowly from a spoon, remove it from the heat and let it cool.

2. Beat 3 eggs and 1 tea cup of sugar until the mixture whitens.

3. After beating well, add 1 cup of milk and 1 cup of oil, and continue to beat.

4. After about 1 minute of beating, add 1 cup of flour, 1 cup of semolina, half a cup of blue poppy seeds, 1 packet of baking powder, and vanilla, and beat well.

5. Pour the prepared cake mixture into a greased baking dish.

6. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for about 25 minutes.

7. While the cake is baking, whip 1 box of whipped cream with the amount of milk indicated on the package and refrigerate it.

8. Check if the cake is done by inserting a toothpick, then remove it from the oven.

9. Poke holes in the baked cake and pour the cold syrup over it while the cake is still warm. It's important for the cake to be warm and the syrup to be cold.

10. After the blue poppy seed semolina dessert absorbs the syrup and cools to room temperature, spread whipped cream on top. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Slice and garnish with more blue poppy seeds before serving.

Your delicious blue poppy seed semolina dessert is ready. Enjoy!

Note: In this recipe, we used a rectangular baking dish, but you can also use a regular oven tray. As mentioned before, the cake should be warm while the syrup is cold. Due to the semolina in the recipe, when the warm semolina in the cake meets the cold syrup, it will expand, creating a delicious and filling dessert. This is why blue poppy seed revani is a fantastic dessert for gatherings.
