- 3 cups granulated sugar
- 1 and a half cups water

- 1 cup wheat starch
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 3 cups water

For the Rose Flavour:
- 1 tablespoon rose water
- A pinch of red food coloring
- 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions for Making Turkish Delight:

1. Boil the water and sugar together for about 25 minutes, add a piece of lemon, and simmer. When the sugar mixture thickens, it means the syrup has reached the right consistency. Then remove it from heat.

2. In 3 cups of water, add wheat starch and cream of tartar, and cook over low heat, stirring continuously until it thickens.

3. Gradually incorporate the syrup into the thickened mixture while stirring.

4. Cook the mixture for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally, until it becomes chewy like gum.

5. When the mixture takes on a golden color, remove it from heat and add 1 tablespoon of rose water and a few drops of red food coloring. Mix well.

6. Pour the mixture into a starch-dusted baking dish and spread it to your desired thickness.

7. Once cooled, slice it and coat each side with powdered sugar or starch. Enjoy your Turkish delight!
