Wouldn't you like to rejuvenate your towels and bathrobes, which have become discolored or stained, using fabric dye, making them look brand new again? Here's a very practical method for dyeing towels and bathrobes in the washing machine with fabric dye.
Materials Needed for Towel and Bathrobe Dyeing:
- Fabric dye in your desired color
- Vinegar and salt
- Fixative
- Optional: Lavender oil
In this easy and effortless fabric dyeing method in the washing machine, we added a few drops of lavender oil to the fabric softener compartment along with the fixative. This lavender oil is optional, so you don't have to use it if you don't have any on hand.
With the fabric dyeing process in the washing machine, your towels and bathrobes will be renewed. With this dyeing process, you can make your old towels or bathrobes look as good as new or use them in your desired brand-new color.
- First, thoroughly soak the items to be dyed. The towels and bathrobes to be dyed should be clean.
- Fabric dyes typically dye about every 200 grams of fabric. Since towels and bathrobes are heavy items, for one towel and one bathrobe, we used 3 packets of fabric dye for the process.
- Place the fabric dyes in a container. After adding 1 tablespoon of salt and 1 tablespoon of vinegar, pour half a liter of boiling water over them, mix well, and ensure the dye dissolves completely.
- Place the items to be dyed into the washing machine. Pour the dye mixture over the items in the machine.
- Add 2 bottles of fixative to the middle compartment, which is the fabric softener compartment. Optionally, you can add up to 3 drops of lavender oil like we did. This way, the washed items will soften and smell great.
- Since towels and bathrobes are being dyed, the likelihood of shrinkage or being affected by hot water is low, so we wash them at 90 degrees Celsius. For fabric dyeing in the washing machine, use a program that lasts at least one and a half hours. The higher the temperature and the longer the duration, the more efficient the dyeing process will be.
- After spinning the dyed garments in the machine, hang them up to dry. Once dry, you can start using them in their brand-new state.
